The K-9 Clinic Web Site

Last fall, shortly after I started attending group classes at The K-9 Clinic, the owner casually asked me what I did for a living one day, and I said, “Web sites.”  The rest is history.

Wild Dingo officially lauched this site in January, however, put off announcing it because there were still outstanding features that needed to be implemented, namely, the rotating banner. After fooling around with a Flash animation for too long, I ended up using simple Javascript code and I think it came out fairly well! The site is programmed entirely in Word Press so one or two of the staff can update pages quickly without my assistance. However, for new programming or art features, Wild Dingo will continue to provide service. They also wanted a calendar to display all of the clinic’s upcoming classes. Word Press developers have THE coolest calendar Plugin around so it was pretty easy to implement. And while I was at it, I installed the NextGen photo gallery plugin which makes it easy for the clinic to take photos and add them to the Web site for owners to browse through and remember their good times!

The folks at The K-9 Clinic are fabulous. I went to the clinic for obvious reasons: an alligator that needed taming and a shy husky that needed to come out of her shell. The trainers at the clinc are A-1 pedigree–the real deal. The owner is a K-9 Police officer who has become the area’s “last resort” for severely aggressive dogs–the dogs whose only other choice is, well, you know. From what I understand, he’s always had good results with those cases. Prior to going to The K-9 Clinic, I had tried other dog trainers and classes, both private and group classes. The K-9 Cinic stood out to be the most effective for me and my problem dogs. The trainers take obedience seriously, but make it entrirely fun. The classes are huge, and often split up into groups to do different things, such as training off-leash agility obedience, while other dog are performing running recalls, or moving a dog through a tightly grouped pack of dogs whose owners standing 10 or 20 feet away ask their dogs to sit or lay down as another dog moves through the group. It’s insane, but its real-world training and that’s what I love about it. The clinic offers a huge variety of programs suited for your dog: therapy dog progams, search programs, personal protection and agility. It even holds a beach or dog park class every week to take your training into the real world. It’s a whole lotta fun on your nerves to test your dog’s off-leash obedience in “the real world”–especially if you own an alligator, like Loki! Since I’ve been going there, I’ve recieved so many compliments on both my dog’s good behavior! Which just makes me giggle knowing what I know about them.

What I really like about this company is that they are forward-thinking about their online and off-line marketing and have a list of things they want to do to increase presence in the online and real-world community. Which means, we still have some work to do on their site! Yippie! They’re a fun client and I’m thrilled to work with them.

If you need a dog trainer in the Santa Cruz, South Bay CA area, go to The K-9 Clinic. Take my word for it. The proof is in my alligator pudding.

  1. What a wonderful web site! I especially liked the puppy photos- so cute! I’ve “passed the word” to folks I know in the SC area. You definitely have “mad skills.” Give L&J a big hug from Sugar…Karen
